Home Healthcare Overview
If you’ve managed to make your way to this site, that probably means you’ve been trying to figure out which way is up in the sea of literature (and companies) there is out there on home healthcare. We’re going to do our best to simplify and sum up what you’ve been learning. If you’re an absolute novice, you’ve started in the right place.
What is Home Healthcare?
Home healthcare is one of several options an individual has when considering long-term care. If you were to look at long-term care options on a graph, it might look like this.

Long term Care Options
There is a dashed line extending from Home Healthcare to Assisted Living Facility because an individual living in one of these facilities can still request home healthcare services.
A person receives healthcare at home because their physical condition is such that they are not able to fully complete basic daily tasks, but not so severe that they need constant attention of highly skilled medical staff. If a current QHS patient’s condition deteriorates, though, care at a facility may be necessary. One of our geriatric care managers would help out in these situations to make assessments and recommendations.
Generally, a caregiver (a term used to encompass all levels of nurses) comes in for part of the day (or all day if needed) to help with things like cooking, bathing, walking, or grocery shopping. They can even help with dispensing medications or wound care.
